Sardellas RestaurantNewport Rhode Island's oldest full service Italian restaurantNewport, RI 02840 401-849-6312 Sardellas restaurant is owned by the former Mayor of Newport RI, Richard Sardella. This establishment is located on Memorial Boulevard, which is between Thames Street and Bellevue Avenue. Sardella's is a favorite location of locals and tourists, and features both Northern and Southern Italian cuisine.
For dinner, the last time I was there I had the Gemilini e Pollo al Fungi (twisted pasta, grilled chicken and portabella mushrooms in a gorgonzola cream sauce), which was amazing. I can't wait to go back there to have that dish again! For dessert, try the Tiramisu with an espresso. If you'll be bringing children with you, there's a great kids menu as well. They might not care for the Calamari or Gemilini e Pollo, but I'm sure they'll like one of the following:
