There are
always a variety of Newport RI events going on, no matter what time of year you're here.
September just happens to host some of the best, including:

- 30th Annual Classic Yacht Regatta
- Newport International Polo Series
- Six Metre World Cup
- New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup
- 39th Annual Newport International Boat Show
- Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival
You can visit the Newport Rhode Island Mansions, Newport Cliff Walk, and Ten Mile Ocean Drive any time of the year.

30th Annual Classic Yacht Regatta
Date: September 4 - 6
Location: Museum of Yachting
Address: Fort Adams State Park
Come on out to historic Fort Adams State Park on Labor Day weekend and enjoy 2 days of classic yacht racing. The opening reception is on Friday night from 6-8pm. Enjoy sparkling wine, New England chowder bar, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Movies on the Rocks: Twilight
Date: September 4
Location: Ballard Park
Address: Hazard and Wickham Road (across from Rogers High School)
Your kids might like to go see this popular movie, which plays at dusk at Newport's only nature preserve. Admission is free, and you can park across the street at Rogers High School.

12th Annual Newport Waterfront Irish Festival
Date: September 5-7
Location: Newport Yachting Center
Address: 4 Commercial Wharf
One of my favorite Newport RI events (maybe because I'm Irish?).
Put on your kilt, grab a Guiness and enjoy the Irish food, drinks, music and dancing at this exciting festival.
Starts at 11am, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Newport International Polo Series
Date: September 5
Location: Glen Farm
Address: 715 East Main Road - Portsmouth (Route 138)
USA vs. England - Starts at 4pm.
$10 admission for adults
Children under 15 enter free
$15 for box seating
Farewell to Summer Party
Date: September 6
Location: Easton's Beach
Address: Memorial Boulevard
Come on down to 1st Beach on Sunday, September 6 from 8am-5pm to enjoy the last weekend at the beach!
There will be plenty of fun things to do, including:

Enjoy an afternoon of live music on the lawn of the Newport Art Museum.
Museum members: $5
Non-members: $10

Doggy Fashion Show
Date: September 10
Location: Rough Point Mansion
Address: 680 Bellevue Avenue
One of the newest Newport RI events, Rough Point's first ever Doggy Fashion Show features treats for you and your canine. Check out the exhibit inside: "Shop Like an Heiress: Buying Fashion in the 20th Century" to see how Doris Duke spent some of her fortune.
Admission to both events is only $5.00, with children under 12 admitted free.

Murder at the Mansion
Date: September 10
Location: Astors' Beechwood Mansion
Address: 580 Bellevue Avenue
This is probably one of the coolest Newport RI events.
This is a really unique, interactive murder mystery tour. Guests participate by searching the home for clues, questioning suspects and solving the crime (hopefully!).
$30 for adults and $15 for youths ages 6-17

Secret Garden Tours
Date: September 11 - 13
Location: It's a secret!
Address: 33 Washington Street
Explore various gardens at private homes around Newport.

New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup
Date: September 15 - 19
Location: New York Yacht Club
Address: Harbor Court (Wellington and Halidon Avenue)
This is the inaugural New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup. Amateur yacht clubs compete against teams from around the globe on Rhode Island Sound.

39th Annual Newport International Boat Show
Date: September 17 - 20
Location: Newport Yachting Center
Address: 4 Commercial Wharf
Check out the latest sailboats and powerboats, along with product and service vendors from around the world.
- Thursday (VIP day) $24.00 (10am-6pm)
- Friday & Saturday $15.00 (10am-6pm)
- Sunday $15.00 (10am-5pm)
Fall Family Festival
Date: September 19
Location: Green Animals Topiary Garden
Address: 380 Cory's Lane - Portsmouth
This is another great event for kids. They can build scarecrows, make crafts and enjoy live music at one of the world's coolest gardens.
10am-5pm, with story-telling from 2-3.
Big Band Night
Date: September 23
Location: Astors' Beechwood Mansion
Address: 580 Bellevue Avenue
Come enjoy Larry Brown's Swinglane, an 18-piece jazz band, performing in the ballroom of Astors' Beechwood mansion.

Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival
Date: Sep 25 - 27
Location: Rosecliff Mansion
Address: 548 Bellevue Avenue
Come out and be a part of the Grand Tastings on Saturday, the Sunday Jazz Brunch, and the Celebrity Chef demonstrations.
